Wayne State University's Elaine L. Jacob Gallery will host Still Pulling: Traditional Printmaking in the Digital Age

Wayne State University's Elaine L. Jacob Gallery will host three days of gallery talks in conjunction with Still Pulling: Traditional Printmaking in the Digital Age by artist Denes Galfi on May 8th and 9th at 3pm, and by Galfi and Still Pulling curator Pamela DeLaura on May 10th at 3pm.
These events are free and open to the public.
Still Pulling features hand-pulled prints by 20 artists from across the United States and Canada. Each artist is represented in this exhibition by 2-4 prints. The artists selected by Curator Pamela DeLaura, Associate Professor of Art at Wayne State University, for this exhibition utilize traditional print processes and share an aesthetic of abstraction that references nature. Their hand-pulled prints affirm traditional printmaking as a thriving contemporary art practice producing rich and compelling works.
Denes Galfi, Adjunct Instructor, born in Yugoslavia and of Hungarian nationality, emigrated to the US in 1960. He became manager of the College for Creative Studies printmaking facility in 1970 and formally Section Chair in 1973. In 2003 Galfi left CCS to become an adjunct faculty member at Wayne State University, undertaking the development of a strong Printmaking facility and program for the Visual Arts Education for WSU's College of Education.
